Talavera pottery, or Majolica, was exported to Mexico in the 16th Century. The Italian word Majolica refers to a production process of applying or brushing pigments on raw or unfired glaze. Talavera pottery was developed from Majolica, which was employed by Italians within the 14th Century. History claims that Spanish monks colonizing Mexico employed and immigrated pottery crafstmen from Talavera de La Reina, Spain, to train the indigenous pottery artists residing in Puebla, Mexico how you can produce Talavera pottery with the same top quality of that produced in Spain. Mexico was alreaday home to several native potters that skilled in producing pottery for everyday use furthermore to religious and cultural uses. The Spaniards introduced production tools and materials for example the potter's wheel and tin-glazed pottery. The beautiful glaze function was the main characteristic of majolica.

Originating in Spain amongst the Arab culture, Arab potters settled eight centuries ago in an area now known as Talavera de la Reina, Spain. The Spanish potters developed approaches and practices to generate the material called Majolica. Mexican pottery craftsmen combined the standard Spanish majolica talavera pottery production with native pottery methods of the Puebla region to generate Talavera Pottery. The Puebla, Mexico artistic culture and community became the new foundery. Collecting fine pottery can be a really good hobby, as pottery can be a really excellent art. Does anyone know where I can find a pottery restoration place in the Tampa Bay, Florida Area?

I had a Johnathan Adler vase that I busted.. Its made of ceramic and I bought it in a trip to Chicago and means a lot to me. Does anyone know where I can find a place to repair it in the Tampa Area? Thanks.

I know of one place, but it is in Belleview rather than Tampa. It would be a pretty long drive for you, but it might be worth while for a valuable vase.
