These three pieces are representations of Mathematical objects called “Minimal Surfaces”. I'm always searching the web looking for interesting structure and I found these and was instantly intrigued. They are simply forms I have never seen before. When you look at sculpture from a maths perspective often it simply reduces down to “Oh another doughnut” or “Oh another sphere” but these shapes are much more complex. I was continually fooled by them whilst making them, trying to poke my tools to reach inside to smooth them and constantly finding surface where I expected holes to be and then after looking and finding the right way in feeling always as though I was working at right angles to how I should have been, most enjoyable - I do love puzzles and getting fooled by inanimate objects.
